Special Education has an Exciting New Reading Program!

Special Education department at PSE has an exciting new literacy program called Leveled Literacy Intervention or LLI for Special Ed students who have pull out Language Arts support.

Students bring home a book bag everyday. Students get to keep their very own copy of the “Take Home Books”, which they should be reading at home each day. They can bring their books back to school and have their own personal library of books to read in their classroom during independent reading time.

Parents, listen to your child read every day and talk to them about the books they are reading. Parent letters in both English and Spanish are sent home daily with questions you can ask your child and suggested activities you can do with your child.

With parents becoming part of the three-way partnership with your child and the LLI Resource teacher, this exciting program will increase your child’s ability to read, which is the key to their academic success! Become an active participant in that goal today!

Leveled Literacy Intervention or LLI for Special Ed students who have pull out Language Arts support.

Leveled Literacy Intervention or LLI is a system that is meant to help improve student’s reading behaviors in a very systematic process that consists of: word work, writing, independent reading, instructional reading, take home books and reading assessments. It is currently being used by the Resource Teachers on selected students in the classroom and out as well. The students’ data is followed closely on a consistent basis to ensure that proper growth takes place.
